Super Video Golf looks great for anyone who loves Golf, and it got a bit buried but the developer has continued to expand it with a recent update adding in a career mode. It has Native Linux support and it is Steam Deck Verified!

This 90s styled game offers up quite a lot including a free play mode, 8 player local and online support, a wide variety of course sizes including mini-golf along with various weather conditions. You can even play it at night if you wish. There's also a full tutorial and a driving range on top of that. There's also monthly challenges, leaderboards and even Steam Workshop support. What more could you want? I have no idea, I don't play Golf — but it looks genuinely good

With the new career mode added in you get to play through 6 seasons across 12 courses, over 36 games. If you rank in the top 3 you'll unlock various cosmetic items too which you can then use in the career or free play modes. There's a save system added in for it too, so you can drop out any time. The save system hasn't yet been added to the free play mode though.

Check it out on Steam and itch.io.

Oh I was looking for a golf game, I really miss Mario Golf, I'll try it, it looks really cool, however, WTF is this music on the trailer? It's so annoying

Thought I'd post an update. Great game and you can even play pool and snooker in the club house!

Hit a bug straight away where the character can't be edited as the game locks hard but posted a bug report and the dev responded immediately. He's very responsive and involved in their community, which is really nice.
I was confused because the article says 8 players and the video says 16, so I checked out the Steam page for elucidation:
QuoteWhen playing Free Play mode Super Video Golf can be played either as couch co-op with up to 8 players using 1-4 compatible controllers or the PC keyboard, or online with up to 8 computers connecting to a single game. Super Video Golf can also be played as a combination of both allowing up to 16 players in a single round!

Update 2: The dev fixed that bug yesterday on the beta channel (Steam) and in an upcoming patch to stable. Excellent
