Oh damn, this is quite exciting as an Alien fan and might be a reason to pop my VR headset back on again. Alien: Rogue Incursion is coming sometime in late 2024. I only hope that Valve can keep improving SteamVR on Linux, which we had some fixes for recently.

Coming from Survios, an industry-leading virtual reality studio, in collaboration with 20th Century Games, they said it will be releasing "Holiday 2024" so it's most likely around December.

It has only just been announced so details are still quite light and their announcement video didn't actually show anything:

More about it from the press release:

Alien: Rogue Incursion fully immerses players in a harrowing VR journey deep into the Alien universe with an all-new storyline of an ultimate mission that tests their courage, wits, and skill to survive the terrors of the “Perfect Organism.”

“Our team at Survios are huge fans of Alien and have been building Alien: Rogue Incursion for a long time, honing our ability to pair the most technically advanced, immersive, and engaging VR experiences with best-in-class franchises,” said TQ Jefferson, Chief Product Officer at Survios. “This fully original story embraces all our favorite elements from 45 years of Alien, from kinetic action and heart-pounding exploration to our terrifyingly resourceful Xenomorphs that will truly make your skin crawl. We can’t wait for fans to get their hands on it this holiday season.”

Look, if this is even remotely anything like Alien: Isolation, I'm already sold. Terrifying.

That is a very disappointing announcement. The game is less than 8 months away!

I'm hesitant of my ability to survive the terror in VR, but if it's the only way to play it, I'll probably at least try. My last two gaming Alien experiences have been superb (Isolation and Dark Descent).

I don't think my heart would survive that.

I'm with you on that. My heart nearly exploded doing Alien Isolation.

Not really much to go on. The trailer meaningless and it's coming to quest, which means that it'll be severely limited. Maybe it can get me hyped later, but today is not the day.

Can you get mothervr working on linux?

I tried long ago but got nowhere. The mod hasn't been supported for an aeon now, was quietly hoping teambeef would be getting around to it.

It sounds intriguing, but i'm definitely too old for that kind of shenanigans

They need the tagline of 'In space, no one can hear you shit your pants.'
This might finally be a good excuse to dust off my old vr headset

Shame the trailer shows nothing, hope it will be as good as alien isolation was
