For those of you who wait until Denuvo Anti-tamper gets removed from games, you'll be pleased to know Back 4 Blood is now free of it. Plus the developers fixed the anti-cheat recently.

As shown on SteamDB, the notice about it having Denuvo Anti-tamper was removed and it's no longer noted on the Steam page. Nice to see, especially for Linux / Steam Deck players because swapping around Proton versions can cause you to get locked out for a day.

On top of that on May 15th the developers noted an update that "addresses an Easy Anti-Cheat issue for Steam Deck users where players could not access the game" (which would have affected desktop Linux players too). So it's good to see that Turtle Rock Studios care about their players on Linux systems.

Back 4 Blood is currently 90% off in the Humble Store sale.

That's pretty sweet! Good move devs.

So. Is the game good yet? Still keeping that 60€ pricetag on a 2021 release? With 90/100€ versions and paid expansion DLC? Fixed the incessantly stupid teammate AI? What about the non-existent support, sadge gameplay, boring updates, the bloody card system, no mod support... oh well.

L4D2 is the superior game on all counts, choose wisely.
Oh, so that's why it wasn't working for me. I'm glad I can play Halo: MCC finally too.

"Is the game good yet?" - its flawed but good game. You can't kick randoms if you allow randoms to join. May be tad too hard to find people to play with. But it is fun re-playable game.

" With 90/100€ versions and paid expansion DLC? " - you can get good discounts on this game.
"Fixed the incessantly stupid teammate AI?" - its not much worse than l4d AI IMHO. And its pretty bad if you play with 2 other player, but 3 AI and you alone - it makes game more playable. Not on hardest difficulty mind you, but its good enough.
"What about the non-existent support" - with Linux there is never any support with proton games, almost never.
"boring updates" - game is abandoned, i am amazed they released a patch.
"the bloody card system" - LOVE IT. L4D was too easy, difficulty was purely based on amount of undead director would spawn. Very if at all small random deviation in L4D, same play style all the time. Find weapon you are good at, equip, shoot.
" no mod support" - i never cared about mods, never did.
"L4D2 is the superior game on all counts" - no it's not. See above. It's better technically. From graphics/technical sand point(better textures, better overall graphics, better sound, that changes in tunnels and outside of them), to variations of enemeies, variations in possible builds, variations of hazards.(for example map may be caught on 'fire', you get more molotovs and canisters, but there are some fire immune zombies that also do small fire damage, or map is now night time with fog, etc etc, may be your team is hungry and you need to constantly eat food to not loose HP but if fed well, you regen HP). You have economy, scavanging, profeciencies of characters, mechanics of trauma, that is much more difficult to cure compared to just HP lost. Game is so much more rich on content.
