Braid, Anniversary Edition (which released recently) got updated that should make it feel better specifically on the Steam Deck OLED model, and the frame limiter.
I missed the release on this one, as Thekla, Inc. (Jonathan Blow) were originally going to support Linux and macOS with it as I covered in the original announcement article. However, on November 8th, 2023 the website was updated to remove mentions of Linux and macOS (see the Archive). So now for Linux / Steam Deck you'll need to use Proton, as the original Braid on Steam has been delisted (although it's still on GOG - for now).
Anyway: there's been multiple updates since the May 14th launch, but for the Steam Deck OLED update on May 16th it noted:
- Restored World 4 audio timings to their OG speeds.
- Restored the OG Chinese translations for the story text.
- Fixed flickering ladders in World 1-1 at some frame rates.
- Fixed confusing World 8 commentary door order.
- Fixed falling through the floor after completing the game and playing a commentary in World 0-0.
- Improved support for OLED Steam Deck and for Steam Deck frame rate limiter.
- Enabled variable frame rate when vsync is explicitly disabled.

Update: On May 3rd, Jonathan Blow posted on X (formerly Twitter) "Proton. We will do Linux port later." in reply to a user question about it. So perhaps we may still see an official Linux version. Blow has GamingOnLinux blocked on X, so I missed it until it was pointed out.

We disagreed many many years ago on something around Linux users "not buying games", and he blocked me as a result of it.Blow has GamingOnLinux blocked on X, so I missed it until it was pointed out.Any particular reason..?

Man, Jonathan Blows
Good thing I was digging around my old Humble Bundle purchases before IGN got to them and to my surprise, I forgot to register my Steam key for the old version of the game. Now, I finally own it before it got delisted.
Jonathan Blow sucks. Big time.Blow has GamingOnLinux blocked on X, so I missed it until it was pointed out.Any particular reason..?
Who puts a little picture of themselves on the upper left corner of their game trailer? Is that normal and I just missed it, or is this guy kind of a narcissist?I think you're just seeing his profile picture from YouTube's UI lol
I'll never forget the Zero Punctuation video review. Pure magic.
As for me, I'll never forget the Soulja Boy review that got Jonathan Blow upset.
BooooOOOIIIIIIP!

That's pretty typical behavior from *some* programmers I used to work with. I do remember him being quite negative towards Linux. I guess proton and the Steam Deck has made him change his mind to some degree.
Heh. Kinda childish blocking you tho.
See more from me
