Summer is on the way and with things heating up a bit, perhaps you want a little more control over your system cooling wrapped up in a neat interface? CoolerControl has the right idea.

Giving you a system daemon for background device management, as well as the GUI to customize all your settings. It works across lots of different hardware, although it may need just a little configuring on your system to get going.

Features:

  • A highly configurable GUI with system overview.
  • A control daemon that runs in the background.
  • Auto detection of hwmon/sysfs and liquidctl devices including some laptops.
  • Enhanced liquidctl device support (AIOs, USB Fan hubs, LCD screens, RGB lighting, etc).
  • Fan control support for most NVidia and AMD GPUs.
  • Fully customizable speed Profiles like Fixed, Graph(Curve), and Mix that can be applied to multiple fans.
  • Functions to control how a Profile is applied with hysteresis, threshold, directional, and response time control.
  • System-wide cooling Modes to adjust all your devices at once.
  • Create your own Custom Sensors based on a File or on a combination of temperature sensors.
  • Combine Profiles from multiple devices for complete cooling coverage.
  • Re-applies settings after waking from sleep.
  • External monitoring and GUI support.
  • Comprehensive REST API for extensions.

If you have an NZXT Kraken, you might be using GKraken. However, that project is now deprecated in favor of CoolerControl. I have been using CoolerControl for quite some time now, mainly because of my NZXT Kraken. Also like it better than that NZXT Cam spyware on Windows.

Also use CoreCtrl. Although the name looks very similar to CoolerControl, it is more like MSI Afterburner.

All in all, these tools seem to get better over time.

I've been using this tool for about a year now, ever since I had to get a new PC case. It's been absolutely reliable and problem-free, and I can configure it down to the smallest detail.

I'm using it with my NZXT Kraken X53 and it has been nice.

Completely forgot that this exists. It seems that it has gotten some great updates while I haven't used it. Will try later today!

Have looked in the past for a decent fan conttrol software for us linux folk. Never heard of this before.

Installed it.

Shame it don't follow the naming as in the sensor.conf file but thats a minor thing.
