Well this is quite a surprise. Men of War II from Best Way and Fulqrum Publishing releases on May 15th and it will have Native Linux support too. Originally due to launch in September 2023, they decided to delay it until this year after gathering feedback from multiple playtests.

Men of War II will launch with three playable nations - the Soviets, Americans and the Third Reich - each with their own narrative campaign, as well as two further Historical campaigns, a dynamic Conquest campaign and a skirmish-like Raid mode. All of the single-player content can also be played in co-op with up to five players, and the game offers extensive PvP and PvE multiplayer options, including ranked match-making for all three battle setups (Battalions, Combined Arms and Classic Mode). Even with single-player though, the developer confirmed an active internet connection is required.

The Steam page shows it will have Linux support, and one of their team confirmed on the Steam forum "Men of War II has native Linux support. It's also compatible with Steam Deck.".

As a huge fan of real time strategy games, I can't wait to sink my teeth into this one.

Is the American faction unable to do anything till halfway through the match?

No, they just have to wait until they know which side is going to win until they join 😂

This looks like Company of Heroes but it also allows you to zoom out and actually see what is happening the battlefield? Nice. What's the catch? =)

Quoting: GuestEverytime I see the British "faction" missing I think they are making a game on a conflict they know nothing about.
Spoiler, click me
Britain opened the so-called second front against Nazi Germany only in 1944 (after the Soviet Red Army defeated the Fascists on the eastern front). Before that, there were only separate operations with the Americans. There is no need to talk about the many failures since the beginning of WWII.
Quoting: GuestAlso, at the start is the SU allied with the Nazi's when dividing Poland?

No. Signing a non-aggression pact does not mean that we were "allies." Other countries, such as Poland and France, have signed such agreements with Germany. You might as well call France and England allies of Germany when they divided Czechoslovakia.
Germany's decision to attack Poland was before the signing of the agreement between Germany and the USSR, so it did not affect anything. The flywheel of the war had already been launched (by the same Poles who attacked Czechoslovakia in 1938).
There was an agreement on the territorial and political structure between Germany and the USSR in Poland. Since Germany attacked Poland, the USSR had no choice. It was necessary to move the borders away from Germany and increase the chance of victory in the upcoming war (then everyone understood that an attack on the USSR was inevitable). Churchill even understood this.

Of course...

No, thanks.

The previous games (Men of War, Men of War Asasult Squad) have been stellar games superior in many ways to Company of Heroes (the more popular WWII RTS). So I have high expectactions for this one.

Said in an Austin power voice!

We are really spoiled for choice. Broken Arrow should be releasing also relatively soon-ish TM.

Came to say this, more or less. Can any of the critics present us with that great alternative, recent or upcoming game that is even better than MoW2? (Spoiler alert: we have already seen and played demos of MoW2 and Broken Arrow)

And this is why the game goes straight to my ignorelist.

I recommend "Front Edge" its new and more content is being added by the devs everyday. And its modern war

Terminator Dark Fate Defiance is already out, the game's lobbies are already rather empty, and a safe bet that Front Edge is not going to do any better. I think we are heavily underestimating what it takes to get a stable player base like MoW or CoH has.

Terminator Dark Fate Defiance was not made by the same company (Cats Who Play), rather it used their engine and they were consultants on the project, nothing more.

Front Edge has 5x more players in one day than Terminator did at its peak - and this is just in the beta/demo version (full version will be on steam in september). See numbers below:

OK, I think that I see lots of people overestimating how niche this genre is at this point. I would like to be wrong on this, I'll get back to you in September.
