V Rising took Steam by storm back when it hit Early Access in 2022, and now Stunlock Studios have released the big 1.0 with lots of upgrades and it should work better than ever for Steam Deck players.
It already ran quite well on desktop Linux and Steam Deck but a sore spot was the controls system. It was very much designed for a keyboard and mouse. Due to this and some small text, Valve gave it a Steam Deck Playable rating.
That changes with the 1.0 release which adds in full gamepad support, along with a "reimagined HUD user interface crafted specifically for gamepad enthusiasts, ensuring a seamless and immersive gameplay journey". That sounds fantastic, so I might finally be able to properly play it, as I much prefer gamepads on desktop too.

There is of course a lot more new in the update including new music, an achievement system, new locations to explore, more NPCs to find roaming the world, visual upgrades, new enemies to encounter (like Dracula) and one of the legendary Belmont family from Castlevania will appear too. There's also an improved magic system, new weapons, you can turn into a spider (yes really), new armour and so much more.
“After 5 years of dedication and relentless effort, we've realized the vision we set out for V Rising many years ago. I couldn't be prouder of our team for crafting a game that exemplifies what we're renowned for: unique genre hybrids focusing on gameplay first. With V Rising, we've elevated our craft to new heights. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every player who supported us during Early Access, empowering us to shape the game into what it is today. And to our new players, welcome to the finest iteration of V Rising Vampires!”

Quoting: PyreticNay for no local coop, yay for LAN coop and gamepad support. LAN support means that I can use Nucleus Coop to hook multiple games together
Sounds like you're setting up for a LAN party (if that's still a thing)

Haha, if I need to! Hopefully, I can just use the LAN mode to connect two instances on the same machine
