Pulling in elements of both classic Zelda and Super Mario Maker, Quest Master has a really entertaining idea that sees you design dungeons and go on adventures. The developer has now announced they plan to release it into Early Access on May 29th, and there's a big demo refresh now available to try out. It also has Native Linux support.
You get to dream up multi-tiered dungeons full of levers, timed switches, moving platforms, then add infinite verticality with stairwells and abyssal holes and so much more. Oh, there's monsters too, because what's a dungeon crawler without something to bash with a sword or a bow.
In the new demo, utilize updated building tools to fabricate perilous journeys and perplexing puzzle-filled dungeons across multiple themes, including ornate temples, volcanic caverns, and labyrinthine lairs. Train for combat in the dojo, and test one’s luck in mini-games for prizes like Lucky’s Locks where heroes hunt for a loot-filled chest hidden amongst empty containers.

“Our community has been very supportive and vocal, and we’re happy to implement some of their requests in both the Early Access launch and the new demo,” said Julian Creutz, Lead Developer of Quest Master. ”The user-created dungeons we’ve seen from demo players have been mind-blowing, and we can’t wait to provide even more creative tools to quest masters around the world.”
You can wishlist / follow and try the demo on Steam.
I know they are only the publisher of this game, but I remember when they were developers. I have fond memories of playing hours of Duke Nukem and Duke Nukem II on MS-DOS. They also did the publishing of one of my favorite games, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure. I played more of Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure than I did of the Duke Nukem series. If time allows, I will be downloading the Quest Master demo this evening to give it a spin.
I tried Proton Experimental, Proton 9, Steam Linux Runtime - None of these got me past the problem.
the issue with playing the second zelda game is that most of the things are repeated, only a few new itens and puzzles.
and in the case of an maker this problem only get worse, each custom made level will remind me again and again that this is not the reason why i like this type of game, i hope people can find an way to create unique puzzles despite the limitations of the tool.
