You have to hand it to PlayStation Publishing and their development partners like Nixxes Software and Jetpack Interactive for their impressive ongoing support of PC releases with AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.1 (FSR 3.1) now added to multiple games.

Announced by AMD yesterday FSR 3.1 was just added to:

  • Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR'S CUT
  • Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • And in the soon to be release God of War Ragnarök

Each game had a few other changes with their patches as well, like some of them also upgrading to Intel XeSS 1.3.

Some of what was improved in AMD FSR 3.1:

  • Upscaling image quality improvements:
    • Improved temporal stability, reducing flickering and shimmering.
    • Enhanced ghosting reduction and better detail preservation.
  • Enhanced frame generation:
    • Decoupled frame generation technology that works seamlessly with other upscaling solutions.
  • Upgradable FSR API:
    • Simplified upgrades for developers to future versions of FSR.
  • Developer Support:
    • Added support for Vulkan and Xbox Game Development Kit (GDK).

With the update they should hopefully work even better on Steam Deck, and for those pushing high resolutions on desktop Linux with Proton.

Keeping the Steam Deck relevent for current gen games. Nice!
Wish they'd add this to the first Horizon.

Considering I still haven't finished it, I agree.

According to some comparisons on YouTube FSR's upscaling has improved substantially but is still far worse than DLSS' Upscaling.

At least AMD's Frame Generation is actually good and you're not forced to use it together with the upscaling anymore.

Shame NVIDIA still can't figure out their frame generation tech for Linux driver. It quickly becoming the INFERIOR product which is hilarious because they lock it down to RTX40 series and classify it a premium feature. What is NVIDIA doing?
