Pugstorm and Fireshine Games have revealed more details about the 1.0 release for Core Keeper that will arrive on August 27th.

Coming to Core Keeper for the very first time, the 1.0 update will introduce brand new (optional) PvP functionality, an entirely revamped world generation system and a mysterious new biome to explore: The Passage. We're also getting two brand new combat styles with the introduction of the Mage and Warlock builds, plus new skill trees, equipment, enemies, bosses and the conclusive chapter to Core Keeper’s main story, alongside much, much more.

With the new world generation, old worlds will still work, but the developers said they "strong encourage" players to start a new world to get all of it.

Honestly, it sounds amazing from what they've said.

Core Keeper is available right now in Early Access on Steam. It has Native Linux support and is Steam Deck Verified.

I love this game so much. Works great on Linux. We have 2 copies on Steam & I was planning to buy it on Switch for the kids when it comes out. But wow I was shocked to learn that the console version won't have split-screen multiplayer! If any recent game was absolutely perfect for split-screen it's this one.

What to you mean "console version will not have?". Is there any information on the forums related with the PC version having split-screen available, or because you are assuming split-screen should be a must on consoles only?

Honest question here, no bashing :) I would love to see couch co-op on this game as well.

Hmm. I guess it was more a matter of my hopes being dashed. I know the PC version doesn't have split-screen.

We recently enjoyed games like Ruins of Tasos & Children Of Morta that *do* have split-screen so I was just thinking of this as a no-brainer.

When we played it was with an adult group of about 6-8 of us and it was so so fun that I wanted that for my kids.

I didn't take it as any kind of failed promise from the devs. Just wish it had been on the roadmap. :/

Oooooh Nice. I played Children of Morta with a friend online, and it was fun. Never tried to play couch coop.

For adults dinner nights, we usually play Super Bomberman 3 or 4 on retroarch with up to 5 players. It is a lot fun, and those are games that non-gamers enjoy most and the skill ramp-up is not a steep curve
