I know this will excite many of you. DOOM: The Dark Ages has been announced today and it will arrive on Steam in 2025. Get ready for more ripping and tearing.

Vile forces push a kingdom to the brink. Fangs gnashing, their fury is emboldened by the flames of Hell’s own malevolence. No mortal blade cuts their masses down. No bulwark stays their advance. No army dares match them in the battlefield.

But you will. You are the super weapon primed to destroy evil.

For when Hell is at the gates, the DOOM Slayer answers.

Seems like I really need to go and play through DOOM Eternal to the finish now. I know, I'm a bit of a late bloomer on the recent DOOM games after only finishing DOOM in the last year. Although, you don't actually have to play the others, since DOOM: The Dark Ages shows off the Slayer's origin and is actually a prequel to the other two modern DOOM games. Oh, and this time you've got some fun toys to play with like the Atlan, a "daunting skyscraper-sized mech capable of toppling Hell’s behemoths with titanic metal fists" and a Mecha Dragon to fly around on too.

Since it will be on Steam, thanks to Proton we shouldn't have much trouble playing it, and we know id Software use Vulkan so it's likely it will run really well.

Hell yeah, this looks awesome!

Read more in the full announcement. The Steam page isn't up yet but should be soon (update: Steam page is live).

I just finished Eternal this morning. I'll probably wait until a bit after release to pick it up, though I'm excited to pilot an Atlan.
My favourite thing about this trailer was that gun feeding heads into it

More doom is never a bad thing!
I'm probably one of few but i really dislike the new DOOM games since 2016. But hey to each their own.

Yes, Another Doom game.

Was not a fan of Eternal so hope the game is more like 2016.

I was going to complain about the publisher but lost my train of thought when I read this comment. I completely agree! Too much dancing, weapons swapping, etc for my old ass self when I wanted a beautfil boomer shooter with a couple of extras. I reinstalled and am trying another go at the wimpiest level 🙄

Unpopular opinion, but those new Doom games are overdesigned and overstuffed. This looks like it continues down that path.

Pff, that's nothing! Until the Steam Deck and its ilk, my FPS motion-sickness issues stopped me from playing any of them! I'm still inching through Doom II right now, with Doom 64, 2016, and Eternal sitting in my library waiting for their turn.

Quoteand a Mecha Dragon to fly around on too.

Not this one, I presume?

Or this one?

I've just finished Final DOOM (specifically the Plutonia Experiment) a couple of hours ago, lol.

I really hope this one doesn't have any of the unnecessary nonsense, like excessive wall-jumping. Looking forward to some classic, intense action. Fingers crossed for an awesome experience!
