The original Power Rangers return to fight a robo-reincarnation of the rotten Rita Repulsa in an all-new retro-style beat-'em-up!

Just announced by Digital Eclipse and Hasbro (under a new imprint called "Hasbro Retro Arcade", perhaps suggesting that we'll be seeing more licensed titles in this vein going forward), the game sees new foe Robo-Rita travel back in time to team up with the original Rita Repulsa, in order to bring back plenty of past monsters in an attempt to rewrite history and prevent the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from ever existing.

As well as side-scrolling brawler action for up to five players (local or online), which is rendered in a 1990s throwback pixel-art style, there are also into-the-screen shooting and driving segments, along with first-person big boss fist fights played from the perspective of the cockpit of the mighty Megazord, all resembling Super Nintendo Entertainment System Mode 7 effects or Sega Super Scaler arcade titles.

The reveal-trailer hits all the right retro notes, and shows a little bit of what you can expect, with plenty of recognisable elements for fans of the classic TV-show to spot.

The Power Rangers' new outing has only been announced for Windows, but it should be an ideal fit for Proton on Linux and the Steam Deck!

From the official description;

In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind, the team faces off against a robotic reincarnation of the Power Rangers' long-time nemesis. Robo-Rita has conjured a portal to send herself back in time so she can finally vanquish the Power Rangers by forming an alliance with her younger self. Working together, Robo-Rita and Rita Repulsa rewind, rewrite, and remix the past in an attempt to stop the very formation of the Power Rangers, altering the course of history.

Will the two Ritas and their army of monstrous enemies from across the MMPR timeline finally succeed in destroying the Power Rangers? Or will these teenagers with attitude learn to work together and counter this catastrophic chronological collaboration?

Players will be able to experience the origins of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers again – for the first time! The past will never be the same…

I'll be getting this on the Switch, but if someone mods Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger into the game over the Power Rangers. I might get it on PC too. lol

Can't wait for this one! Billy is best Ranger, so I'll be playing as him.

I'm honestly wondering if they'll do this officially and have a Zyuranger localisation available for Japan (and hopefully as an Easter Egg for other regions) - it doesn't look like they'd have to change a whole ton (seems to just be the cutscenes and the Juice Bar).
At first I thought this was the same dev team that made the Nina Turtles Shredders Revenge.... But its not...... It looks and moves so similar though......
