The seriously impressive GZDoom-powered shooter Selaco from Altered Orbit Studios has managed to do quite well for the Early Access launch. Be sure to check out my initial thoughts.

Posting on X (Twitter) the developer posted:

SELACO has sold 51,000 units in just two weeks!

Thank you all so much for making this possible 💙

In a follow-up post they also mentioned the first "True Update" is due this week, Chapter 2 production is about to begin (which will be a free update) and the official soundtrack is coming really soon which includes extra bonus and unused tracks.

For Steam Deck players, they also posted in an announcement on Steam, that for some reason Valve gave the game a Playable rating for the game using Proton 9 instead of their Native Linux version. This is not what they wanted, as it "skips all of the optimizations we made for the Steam Deck, the custom menus and will make old save files not show in game" so you'll need to tick the Compatibility box in the settings and pick the Linux Runtime which will force it to grab the Linux version. They said they are "still working with Valve to get the game verified".

Quoting: tfkOk. How do I get the key card in the very first level? There is a door and I want to open it.

From demo memory, I'd say through a ventilation shaft.

Dev team just made a cool 1.3m ... that's awesome!!! We soooo need more successful dev teams that take Linux seriously, just like @frawo said.

Maybe hopefully this cash infusion will speed up the release? Two more years and I'll have completely forgotten it exists!

Selaco deserves every bit of the praise it gets. It's one of the best FPS games I have ever played. The attention to detail is remarkable.

Exactly, I bought it for the System Shock 2 vibes, and it vaguely reminds me of Duke Nukem from around 2000. I got confused in the level design slightly during progression and it would be refreshing to have the "naughty" bad boy spice added of something Conquer's Bad Fur Day or Duke Y2K to complement the style and genre.

What I played was pretty fun and played great on Steam Deck. It's rare to find something like that these days -- I had my eye on this one for at least a year or two which I rarely do for any game.
