Star Trek: Resurgence released on Steam back in May and Dramatic Labs have continued to put up improvements, with the latest being a good update for Steam Deck players.
What is it? Star Trek: Resurgence is a narrative-driven adventure game created by former members of Telltale Games that delivers all the excitement and wonder of the Star Trek universe. As first officer Jara Rydek and enlisted engineer Carter Diaz, you will join the crew of the U.S.S. Resolute, a science vessel on the edge of Federation space. Its mission: to prevent an ancient and powerful force from engulfing everything in its wake.
There's currently no Steam Deck rating for it, but on ProtonDB it has a Platinum rating from community reports. The developer released an update this week which notes:
- Achievements Engaged: Show off your skills and dedication with all-new achievements.
- Choose from four graphics pre-sets: Minimum, Standard, High, and Maximum – tailor your game visuals to your taste and your system’s performance capabilities.
- Take control of V-Sync: Toggle it on or off to find the perfect balance of smoothness and performance.
- Enjoy enhanced performance across the board, including a smoother experience on Steam Deck.

Quoting: dpanterIs that supposed to be Leonard Nimoy? Is this "AI" or a voice actor trying to impersonate him... could have used another character instead, really. Could be a fun game but that combat looked really janky. It's a voice actor impersonating him. He's obviously not perfect, but there were various lines that were pretty close. I definitely felt like it could be an older Spock. I'm also not someone that thinks only one actor can play a character, so I don't have a big problem with recasting. After finishing the game I agree that they could have used another character without changing the story, but I'll admit to having a grin on my face when he and another character showed up!

It is a narrative game, so you're watching cutscenes and making choices through a lot of it. There are segments where you walk around and perform various tasks as well as some combat sections, but the combat isn't the main focus or strong point of the game. The story was pretty decent, at least with the choices I made. It felt like it could be a fair TNG episode, and that's a lot better than any other Star Trek game I've played in quite a while.
I have a wrist injury so that made it basically impossible to finish. I know these sort of games are alot of qtes, but this has alot more actually gameplay, so it'd be nice if there was accessibility options.

So, just like most of the games that were made by the TellTale folks. :-D
