Valve has released SteamOS 3.6.4 Preview for Steam Deck, a small update to the upcoming release aimed at addressing a few problematic bugs.

Since SteamOS 3.6 is in Preview, you need to manually opt into it if you wish to test. Available via Settings > System > System Update Channel.

Here's what's changed:

  • Fixed a regression with DualSense controllers over Bluetooth.
  • Fixed an issue where the system could crash on wakeup if an external DisplayPort monitor was connected.
  • Fixed an issue preventing sleep on some types of aftermarket SSDs.
  • Fixed an issue preventing update checks from working properly on network with an invalid IPv6 configuration.
  • Fixed an issue where touching the left trackpad after sleep could result in a spurious haptic click.

If this hasn't addressed your current issues with SteamOS 3.6, what are you main problems right now?

For all the big changes coming in SteamOS 3.6 see my previous article.

Hmm, I haven't encountered these bugs, but I was struggling to configure a radial menu yesterday, with the interface ignoring my clicks on "add menu item". The controller configurator is one of the buggoer areas in Steam, in my experience.

Also, is it just me, or does the steam deck OLED loses charge faster than the non-OLED when sleeping? The battery can be drained in 1 or 2 days. They should probably hibernate if the console hasn't been used in a few hours.

I've not particularly looked into it, but the Bluetooth chip in the OLED stays powered when the device is in sleep for Bluetooth wake; I expect that would cause higher drain.

Interesting, I will try to disable Bluetooth then, thanks for the tip. Though I shouldn't have anything currently connected 🤔
