Terra Nil is a wonderful reverse-builder, where instead of building a city you're restoring the environment from a wasteland to a successful green ecosystem and the latest free update is a big one.

In this update they've added more content into each region so you can spend a bit more time there. There's 5 new missions with new biomes, new structures, new achievements, new handbook pages, new music and even a new animal.

The animal system was totally re-done too. Instead of manually bringing in animals, it's now a bit more natural so they will migrate to your current map when the habitat has enough for them to survive. You might even need to build some wildlife bridges for them, which is a sweet idea.

Sounds like the future is bright for the game too, with more updates planned. Free Lives mentioned they've begun working with a new developer, Clockwork Acorn, who helped with this update and will continue to work on the game going forward with Free Lives overseeing the direction. It was also mentioned in the update notes that Clockwork Acorn are already working on the next update.

Terra Nil has Native Linux support. It's also rated Steam Deck Playable.
