I'm looking forward to playing through another proper single-player VR game, and it looks like Alien: Rogue Incursion may be my next big one. That is, as long as SteamVR with the Valve Index on Linux is in a good enough state to run it when it releases late this year.

A new trailer went live showcasing the protagonist and some actual gameplay too check it out below:

Having to pull up the motion scanner is absolutely going to wreck my heart. I'm not entirely sold on the visuals just yet, but in VR it's a whole different feeling and it's still in development so hopefully they will keep improving on that.

They said it will be available "this Holiday" so likely sometime in December.

More about it:

IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE ALIEN UNIVERSE
Experience the horror and challenge of fighting Xenomorphs in a world inspired by the look and feel of the Alien film franchise. Audio, Visuals, Lighting, FX, Interaction, and Haptics work together to plunge players into the terrifying world of Alien.

DANGER LURKS EVERYWHERE
Xenomorphs can intelligently use the environment to find the best angle of attack and appear from anywhere around you. Playing in VR will test your nerves and skill as you feel the pulse-pounding terror of facing off against Xenomorphs. In addition to weapons and gear, your resourcefulness, quick reflexes, and ability to stay cool under terrifying pressure is needed to survive.

MISTAKES ARE DEADLY
Combat is dynamic and can happen (or not) based on Player actions, and the moment you don’t respect Xenomorphs is the minute you die in a gory mess. Spawning is reactive to the players movements. Make a lot of noise, and you are calling the Xenomorphs to you. In combat with Xenomorphs, death is very much an inevitable reality.

ICONIC WEAPONS AND GEAR
Locate hotspots with your Motion Tracker. Unleash a hailstorm of bullet fire with your Pulse Rifle, Shotgun, and more from your arsenal to battle the Perfect Organism.

You can follow it on Steam.

Including a character from the comics? Check!
Triggering the incels because Kickass Black Woman? Double check.
Questionable graphics in 2024 from a questionable studio? Check and check.

Not gonna nitpick the trailer but it shows some troubling issues. Fingers crossed for all you VR fans out there, everyone deserves a good Alien game.

Great to see more Alien games. Unfortunately, there are currently only this game and Half-Life: Alyx that interest me, so I just can't justify buying a VR kit yet.

I'm not quite sold on this yet. The xenomorph looks pretty decent, but the graphics look a bit... odd - like they're stuck somewhere between cartoonish and realistic. I'm also confused about the tone of the game. They show off several interactions that are similar to "Alien: Isolation", but the voice-over makes it sound like "Colonial Marines".
In short, I'm just not getting a coherent sales pitch out of this.
Unfortunately as you said, valve index still works badly on linux (especially performance), even with amd. But fortunately there is now an alternative driver that doesn't use steamvr at all. Monado website has a guide on how to setup monado + libsurvive + opencomposite to make steamvr games use monado + libsurvive driver instead. That driver is much much smoother than steamvr on linux the last time I tested it.
Maybe in the future this setup will replace steamvr completely with just one package install (since it seems like valve has no interest in fixing the performance issues in steamvr on linux, it has been an issue for many years now).
