Might be time to jump back into Enshrouded, as it should run better than ever no matter what system you're on, but especially Steam Deck players.

The Enshrouded: Back to the Shroud update landed yesterday bringing with it the headline feature of difficulty presets, so you can tweak the experience you want to your liking. There's lots more tweaks and changes but crucially, performance should be quite a bit improved. Something that was needed, as it many cases it was quite bad.

In the changelog they noted improved "stability and performance on lower hardware specs and on the Steam Deck", there's an updated default settings for Steam Deck as well and they've added in AMD FSR 3 now too. The crafting menu also has larger preview images, so it should look better on smaller screens now too.

Other than that there's plenty of new additions to the world, new character customization options and lots more. Check out the trailer:

I've mostly enjoyed my time in this game (40 hrs or so), but I don't think I can play it any more until they give the player an option to turn off auto-aim when using melee and wands. It's even on for bows and staves, but at least with those you can over-ride the auto-aim by right clicking to zoom in. But no such option with wands and melee.

It kind of makes sense with melee - it feels a lot like the Batman games, where you kind of teleport across the map so that your melee attack lands on an enemy. But with wands it's absolutely infuriating. Maps are LITTERED with explosive barrels and other environmentals that you simply can't use because the damn wand will always hit the torso of an enemy instead. Even worse when it auto-aims at an enemy that you didn't intend to target.

So much promise too. Hopefully they sort it out.
