What was originally called chiaki4deck, a lot of people thought it was primarily aimed at PlayStation Remote Play for Steam Deck but they've now rebranded to chiaki-ng (chiaki-next-generation).
This is because it's a fork of the original chiaki, which is no longer maintained and this version is far ahead of it. So this change is to better align that the project is actually designed to support PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 Remote Play for Linux (and Steam Deck of course), FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Android, macOS, Windows and Nintendo Switch.
The GitHub URL has changed, and so has the website documentation. And they have a fancy new logo too:
A couple of releases have also been made since I last wrote about it including this rebrand release (v1.8) which also noted this change:
- changes current profile when using --profile option.
And also 1.7.4 from last week which noted:
- adds notification when psn creds expire.
- use IPv4 for hostnames as ps4/5 don't support using IPv6 for remote play.
- allow entering pin using enter key as alternative to selecting ok.
EDIT: Seems to be a regression in vulkan-radeon (24.1.2 works fine, >=24.1.3 exhibits this behaviour). Will have to see if I can bisect that when I get chance.
Packaged for the AUR: chiaki-ng | chiaki-ng-git
