Well this is certainly an interesting one. Gotcha Gotcha Games known for the RPG Maker series and Pixel Game Maker have announced Action Game Maker and it's being made with the open source Godot Engine.
Announced on the new Steam page, they said it's "designed to be the successor to Pixel Game Maker MV", which brought over their visual scripting inspired by the RPG Maker series but for a wider range of 2D action games. Their current code base was making things difficult to expand, with a lot of limitations and so they "decided that it is in the best long-term interests of our users to build a brand new Maker title, created from the ground up with a new framework" and that's where Action Game Maker comes in.
Much like their previous RPG Makers and Pixel Game Maker, it will be a no-code game creation tool that "builds on the node-based visual scripting system" from Pixel Game Maker MV so you don't need to know line-by-line written programming. And since they're building it on Godot, it's going to have a bunch of advanced features for those who want it, as noted on the Steam page:
Advanced Engine Technology With Godot Engine!
Take advantage of the excellent 2D functionality provided by Godot Engine, the popular open source engine powering ACTION GAME MAKER!
- UI design based on the existing Godot UI
- Support for GDScript is provided for those who want to move beyond visual scripting.
- A complete 2D pipeline
- Tile Map Editor with auto-tile function
- Supports both sprite and 2D bone animation systems
- Access to Godot's rich particle and shader systems as well as support for dynamic lighting and shadows, enabling a full suite of graphics features!
Perhaps this time we might even see a proper Linux version for more game development to be done on Linux. Or at the very least, properly support Linux builds of game exports from it.

Quoting: PenglingOoh, interesting! I'm not sure that I'm creative enough to make good use of it, but as long as it'll work on Linux (preferably natively, with native output, since it's built in Godot - though I know that's not always a guarantee of support), this might end up on my radar.Im sure you could make a good game about baking cookie bombs to attack to evil Doritos Pope and his side kick the Nacho Nun........
