Truckful has been announced by MythicOwl, who recently released the really wonderful Planetiles and Truckful looks like one not to be missed.

An adventure where you're basically a delivery driver where you run errands and quests for various villagers, but something strange is going on with an ancient mystery in the nearby old forest. Looks like a really fun and strange blend this one. Seems a bit like MudRunner for the trucking, but with an interesting sounding narrative to follow.

From what they said it will be a test of your driving skills seeing you go through winding roads, dusty lowlands, and charming towns with an assortment of different goods that you'll need to take care of, with no two errands being the same. Eventually, you'll want to go off the beaten track to explore the ancient forest on the outskirts with its "dense canopy creating an unsettling atmosphere, with something lurking in the shadows… Explore hidden paths, navigate misty wetlands, and brave treacherous marshes and quicksands to uncover the truth beneath the branches".

The game gives me Dredge vibes, I'm looking forward to it!

I want to play this, and never upgrade away from the tuk-tuk.

The game does look good, with an interesting concept. However, the graphics scream Unity3D at me which can be a bit hit-and-miss performance-wise on Linux. Still, will certainly check this game out!

I don't really understand the comment: how does it look Unity3D...that's just a game engine?

To be fair, robvv is absolutely spot-on - their community-manager confirmed that it's Unity in this Reddit post, haha! I wouldn't've figured that out myself - there are tons of games made in Unity and they all look very different to each other to me.

QuoteThank you <3 Yes, this is Unity and from what my community manager brain can process, you can easily export a native linux build :)

A couple of other interesting quotes from the same thread;

QuoteThanks - we appreciate it greatly! Tbh, we're only giving back to this mighty community because we had loads of players wishlisting and buying our games on linux :) From our side, all our current and future games will be playable on Steam Deck.

QuoteThank you, appreciate it! Its a very early stage of development but we should have a playable public demo around march next year (for PAX East)

The "Unity look" is a function of the asset styles and lighting shaders that are available to small, often inexperienced, teams. While you can do high-poly in Unity - Tarkov and Remnant are both Unity, for example - and low-poly in UE, generally by the point you've built up a large team of experienced artists and devs they've already got a UE workflow. The "Godot look" is going to be functionally identical to the "Unity look" because it will come from exactly the same factors.

FWIW, I much prefer default-Unity fuzzy pastels to default-UE sweaty plastic.
I really like the look of this but I'm not sure I could play it. Seeing all the stuff bouncing around, maybe falling off, maybe getting damaged, just makes me wince. Especially the piano! I kept going AAAGGHH that poor piano noooo!

Whereas I'm wondering if you have a baby in a bottle strapped to your chest.

I see that piano and all I can think is that game better have mods so I can put Jack Nicholson on the back of the truck...
