ChimeraOS 46-2 brings full ASUS ROG Ally X support

By - | Views: 20,198

Another update for the handheld and couch gaming Linux distribution ChimeraOS, with version 46-2 out now bringing full ROG Ally X support. Easily one of the best choices to get Linux on your handheld!

This release comes with Linux kernel v6.9.12, Mesa graphics drivers v24.1.5, Gamescope Plus v3.14.24, OpenGamepadUI v0.33.3-1 and InputPlumber v0.34.4-1. Really though the headline feature is full support for the ASUS ROG Ally X, and various improvements around input for multiple different devices!

Here's the full list of changes:

  • Added full support for the ROG Ally X.
  • Improved power saving while suspended for the ROG Ally and ROG Ally X.
  • Experimental support for emulating the Steam Deck controller has been added to InputPlumber and OpenGamepadUI. There is a known issue that suspending the system while using the emulated Steam Deck controller will cause the system to freeze. Users are encouraged to try this mode and report any additional bugs they find so it can be further improved. You can switch to the new mode using the OpenGampadUI gamepad settings in the Quick Bar.
  • Touch-pads on the Lenovo Legion Go, OrangePi Neo, and the Steam Deck will now automatically map to a touch-pad device on the selected target device when using the steam-plus or full OpenGamepadUI sessions. Emulated Xbox target devices will spawn a virtual touch-pad and the emulated DS5 and Steam Deck controllers will use their native touch-pads.
  • Added support for some Xbox Series controllers in Bluetooth mode to InputPlumber. Additional Xbox Bluetooth controllers are planned for the next release.
  • Resolved a bug in InputPlumber returning from suspend where the back paddles on the ROG Ally and ROG Ally X would no longer function.
  • Resolved a bug in InputPlumber that could, in some rare cases, cause controls to become unresponsive after a rumble event.
  • Resolved a bug that caused new installations to fail on devices with the MT7922 WiFi card, such as the Lenovo Legion Go and ROG Ally devices.
  • Added kernel patch to fix HDMI audio on AMD
  • Added AyaNeo 2S screen rotation quirk to the kernel.
  • Mesa fixes from 24.1 series
