Announced today is Elevator Down, a game the developer claims is like Papers, Please blended with The Good Place. They told me via email "The game will be released with 100% support on both Linux and the Steam Deck".

Coming from Greek indie studio eNVy softworks, Elevator Down is a a satirical bureaucratic simulation game where you're the newest recruit in the Afterlife's least glamorous department: Life Evaluation. Talk to Souls, check their documents, reference Holy Texts and decide if they're going Up or Down. Features:

  • Paperwork Purgatory: Tackle mountains of forms, holy texts and absurdly specific guidelines to determine where each Soul belongs. Of course, you can always wing it and hope for the best…
  • Divine Dilemmas: Come face to face with Souls begging you not to send them Down. What is more important, the Rules or Justice? Have you entered your Villain Era and are now sending everyone Down?
  • Soul Parade: Meet an eclectic mix of characters from every corner of the Afterlife, each with their own sob stories and supernatural quirks. Who knows? Maybe amongst them you might find the love of your [after]life!
  • Eternal Endings: Every choice counts, with multiple possible outcomes that determine your own Afterlife fate. Mess up too bad and maybe even the entire World could be at stake! No pressure.

You can follow it on Steam now for release in Q1 2025.
