At least for some smaller teams, things are looking pretty good, with shapez 2 from tobspr Games only launching into Early Access on August 15th and it's sold really well. Read my early thoughts in my previous article.

Their press team, Game Drive, announced that it managed to sell "over 150,000 copies during its first weekend" which is pretty incredible. And it managed to hit a peak player count of 18,806, putting it easily in the top 100 most played games on Steam.

Considering the first game sold more than 650,000 units, it's perhaps not a big surprise to see a massively expanded sequel do so well.

Tobias Springer, CEO of Tobspr Games said, “We are thrilled and taken aback by the success of shapez 2 over its launch weekend and are excited to see so many people jumping in to give it a go. Rest assured that we are listening to all feedback from our players and working to make the game even more satisfying and enjoyable during Early Access.”
