From Chaosmonger Studio who previously released ENCODYA and Clunky Hero have now announced their completely over the top platformer-shooter Speedollama will release October 21st. In their email the developer noted it will have full Linux and Steam Deck support.

Pulling in a big sprinkle of inspiration from classic titles like Metal Slug and Turrican, as well as modern hits like Broforce, Mercenary Kings, and Pizza Tower. If any of those types of games appeal to you, then get ready for some chaos it seems. Featuring vibrant pixel-art visuals that evoke the charm of retro arcades, while incorporating modern gameplay elements such as procedurally generated levels, chaotic humour, and gallons of pixelated blood.

Features:

  • Procedurally generated levels offering endless replayability.
  • Vibrant, colored pixel-art graphics with hand-made frame-by-frame animations.
  • Fantasy violence with humorous splatter scenes and gallons of pixelated blood.
  • A variety of weapons and upgrades to enhance gameplay.
  • Extremely fast-paced action for adrenaline-fueled fun.

From the developer: "I know the indie game market is crowded, with countless platformers being released every month. Standing out in that jungle is no easy task. But I believe Speedollama brings something truly unique to the table—it's fast, quirky, packed with animated details, and, above all, incredibly fun to play. I'm excited to take on the challenge and see how players react to this bizarre and entertaining experience!"

There's a demo available right now on Steam.

I don't see any of the llamas wearing speedos. The developer has lost my faith!

I enjoyed Encodya, I hope he creates more in that vein again.
