Here's a fun surprise for you today, Infinitode 2 - Infinite Tower Defense is a free to play game that just added Native Linux support on July 30th.

If you've ever played a TD game, you'll know what to expect. Pick a level, place down towers and watch as they destroy various types of enemies that try to make their way towards your base. There's a few fun things that makes this one different though including a big 400+ research list that looks like something out of Path of Exile. There's quite a lot of varied maps, along with a map editor that has live leaderboards on each level along with various boss fights. Add to that the wonderful chiptune music, the many different types of towers with per-tower upgrades and individual tower levels for special bonuses, various gameplay modifiers, mining for resources and much more.

The trailer is pretty old but still gives you a good idea of what to expect:

I only clicked Play on this one to check if the Linux version actually worked properly since it's brand new, and ended up sinking quite a bit of time into it. No issues encountered at all and seems like a lot of fun to put some hours into. So I'm not surprised to see it has a Very Positive rating on Steam.

Grab it free to play on Steam.

I've been playing Infinode for years, it has been my go to tower defense game for this and the previous version. It will be great to throw it up on the big screen now.

Yeah, absolutely loved Infinitode 1 and 2 on my mobiles. I especially like TD in general for mobiles as I think that's just a perfect match for the kind of input device. So I'd not be going to play it on PC just because it's there - there's other games I can play on a PC that I "can't" on a mobile - but I hope to see updates to it on mobile too now. Or an Infinitode 3 :D

I just noticed it actually *does* have an update already, nice :)

Kinda abstract looking, but I think I might try it. It seems like it just takes the core concept of tower defence and goes for it. I can appreciate that.

Played it lots on mobile. Good game. Music great too - As you unlock levels you get access to more of it. Warning - Potential to be a big time sink.
