It's finally here and it's finished. Halls of Torment, my favourite bullet-heaven survivor-like that has the style of classic Diablo with Vampire Survivor gameplay is out now.

Absolutely packed full of content. Fight across 6 stages, with 11 playable characters and 100s of items and variants to find. You'll find over 35 unique bosses, over 70 unique monsters, 500 quests to complete and a whole lot of quests to do to unlock various traits and upgrades.

With the 1.0 release today it adds in the last main stage, new challenges, artifacts that will modify the gameplay, new game modes, 16:10 support, lots of quality of life fixes and loads more to find. Check out the trailer below:

From the developer: "We're very excited for the 1.0 release of Halls of Torment. It's been an extraordinary journey for us so far, and we're looking forward to seeing the players' reactions to the feature complete version of the game. We've added a lot of late game content for seasoned HoT players, but at the same time we've also improved the experience for newcomers. We think it has become a solid and well-rounded game, and we hope a lot of new players will enjoy it."

While it's technically finished, they will still be updating it although they admit they "don’t know exactly how to proceed next" but there will be smaller updates and perhaps some additional features to come.

Nice to see another Godot Engine game with Native Linux support see a full release! It's also Steam Deck Verified.

An incredibly easy recommendation for you. It doesn't get easier than this for me: just go buy it. Great fun.

You can buy it on Steam.

Another reason to spend few more hours in this game as it's absolutely awesome :-)

Hmm, I don't know... first round, crashed to desktop after 15 Minutes...
Will try some more, but not a good first impression...

It's really good. I haven't played a huge amount, but it's great fun to take out for a run now and then

I had that, too, a few months ago, and the cause I identified was some library linked into the Godot binary. Can't quite remember what it was, but the solution for me was switching to Proton + the Windows version.

[Edit]
Remembered I sent them a bug report, and this was the Godot issue I found:

googling about this I see this:

https://discourse.gnome.org/t/python-gtk-consistently-crashes-with-xinitthreads-related-errors/20299

I wonder what is right way to solve the issue and who (godot or xcb ot whatever) is in fault.

I didn't had any crash on Steam Deck, but I noticed that the wellkeeper is invisible and I couldn't buy anything from him when I interacted with him.

I assume there will be hotfix released soon as the patch for 1.0 was really enormous.

Maybe the crashes are on X11. If this is right then on steam deck if you run the game on desktop mode you may have the random crashes. (I don't have the game neither a steam deck, I just speculate.

Excellent game, nice artistic design, perfect gameplay, huge diversity of characters to be played with really different gampley.

At this price, should be in all linux (or other OS) game wallet.

Hmm, no, I run Wayland session.
Nevermind, will try switching to Proton.
Still sad if that is what you get when a native linux version is promised.

Having played plenty of the Demo, I guess it is about time I got the full game (on discount until 1st October).

I actually didn't check if the Steam Deck is running native or Proton version of the game by default. But I was downloading some hotfix yesterday, so it's possible they fixed it.

I just started up the game. Last time I played I had all 310 achievements. Now there's 500!
Aw man... there goes my spare time...
