An Amazing Wizard: Prologue just launched on Steam giving you a taste of a bigger game to come and if you like Dead Cells combat, along with the idea of fusing spells together to make unique combos this is for you.

While Valve are trying to get more devs to use demos, we're still getting a few of these Prologue games and this is one you for sure need to be checking out. I still think the name is a bit too generic, but thankfully after now playing it, I can safely say the gameplay is great fun.

Similar in style to the likes of Dead Cells, Wizard of Legend, Skul the Hero Slayer and Noita it sort of blends a lot of their ideas together and if you like any of those you'll feel pretty at home with this one. Here you kill enemies and build up a list of spell scrolls, which you can swap around any time. However, the really fun part is at any time you can speak to the old wise guy and get him to merge two together. The result is that you're given a new spell with a combination of abilities and it means you can make some really cool stuff in it.

In the Prologue there's 60 unique spells, 100 permanent upgrades across 5 elemental play-styles, 100 enchantments and 2 worlds to battle through. The full game will have a lot more with 120+ spells across 7 elements, various playable characters, more worlds, more enemies, more bosses and the list goes on.

Definitely one not to miss. The action is really fun in this one with how much you can customize your play-through.

Check it out now on Steam. It has Native Linux support. The full game is due out early next year.
