OneShot: World Machine Edition is coming to Steam with Steam Deck support

OneShot is a surreal top down puzzle / adventure game with unique gameplay capabilities that released back in 2016, a console adaption OneShot: World Machine Edition released in 2022 that is now coming to Steam with Steam Deck support.

KOMODO, the game developer / publisher and Valve's partner for Steam Deck distribution, announced the news today with a really short teaser trailer:

It's not clear currently if this newer edition will have a Native Linux version like the original or not. But since they clearly state it will have "Steam Deck Verification" it will work on desktop Linux regardless with Proton.

You can find the original on Steam. OneShot: World Machine Edition doesn't have a Steam page at time of writing.

Update 16:00 UTC: the Steam store page for OneShot: World Machine Edition is now live. Showing it is in fact Steam Deck Verified. This is using Proton 9.0-2, and there appears to be no Linux version so stick to Proton. The Steam page lists it releasing on September 30th.

Oh wow, I remember playing OneShot without knowing anything about it, and breaking down in tears over it afterwards.

This I can answer, actually. World Machine Edition was built from the ground up to allow the game to be played properly on the Deck (And the Nintendo Switch). You _can_ play the original release on Deck, but it's fiddly and you're just going to end up losing a lot of the experience like the wallpaper, as you point out. The solution is that WME sets you up with a virtual desktop that you run OneShot on.
