Fallen Aces from Trey Powell, Jason Bond and New Blood Interactive quickly became popular after the initial Early Access release in June and now it has Steam Deck support.

Valve initially rated the game as Unsupported, due to various problems from performance to crashes. Thankfully it should be all good now. As announced on Steam with the amusing "GET YOUR DECKS OUT" update with the main improvements including:

  • Steam Deck compatibility and massive performance improvements.
  • Additional options for Dynamic Shadows, now defaults to low.
  • Added ability to skip cutscenes and game start-up movies.

There's also numerous bug fixes.

Well, I know what I'm going to be playing through soon then! Can't wait to punch a shark and see whatever craziness you can do in the game.

You can buy it on Steam.

This is the one time I'd say a game has earned the Verified rating. Playing it on my friend's Deck, the game has gone from 20 FPS with frame drops to a near stable 90 FPS.

Fantastic work from the developer.

Great game, surprisingly strong story and lots of freedom of gameplay choice, play stealth or go guns blazing.

A very good Immersive Sim! Actually, I didn't expect it to be that good and faithful to the Immersive Sim meta genre. It even brings a neat solution to one of the main issues with these games. AAA Immersive Sims are generally massive critical hits (Dishonoured, Prey, System Shock, Deus Ex, etc) but they cost a lot and have often low sales (lower than expected at least). Fallen Aces' 2D sprites are probably way simpler than 3D models to do but it works amazingly well. It gives a lovely Comics style to the game that fits its story so well.

The only complain I have is that, for the moment, it's a bit short.
