Released originally back in 2018, Slipstream is a retro racer in the spirit of games from the late 80s and early 90s. The developer came back for one final update to finish it off.
The new update brings in modding tools so you can do want you want with it like create new tracks, cars and music. Along with that Steam Workshop support is now officially available for Slipstream too. Making use of their own tools the developer also released a free content expansion adding in two new tracks, two new cars and two new songs.
Additionally the game received some minor fixes as part of the patch.

So I tried to play it in 2019 and I couldn't finish the tutorial, because the slipstream mechanics didn't work, on Linux anyway. I wonder if they fixed it.

Great to hear! Long time fan, one of the best racers of this kind. I wonder if dev got the idea from Ross Scott's Outrun Clones episode

I got it today and I must say I'm impressed. It's more immersive and detailed than I thought

It worked for me back in 2018, the dev even mentioned that they developed the game on Linux back then. It used to be distributed as an AppImage, since the move from libGDX to FNA though I think it uses a standard binary.
I have only played a couple hours over the years, but I haven't had any trouble...

Linux version works OK for me too last time I tried, on ubuntu
This is really cool news, love playing this game split-screen, gameplay is a nice mix between classic Outrun and coast 2 coast
Kinda makes me wish I bought the steam version and not GOG though, didn't think it would end up with Workshop support

Not sure what your problem was, but I completed the game in 2019 without issue. Was one of my favourite games.
