With the recent announcement that both the Retroid Pocket 5 and Retroid Pocket Mini will have Linux support thanks to the new chipset, it's an exciting time for retro gamers and now we know how much you'll need to save.
In a fresh post on X / Twitter the official account revealed that pre-orders will go live on September 10th at 1am UTC / 9PM EST. As for pricing they will be have an early-bird special for 24 hours at a lower price, a pre-order price and a higher price at release.

Oh, and check this out, 4GB of the internal storage, can be allocated to use as virtual ram. Bringing the total ram up to 10GB

I want to use it as a computer to run a dotnet Linux application. I will buy for sure if:

In that case you can at least get it working.
Mono and Dotnet both provide a Linux compatible implementation of Dotnet.
I think you want Dotnet.
They're both pretty inter platform, so you can also test whether it would work on your main device.
Do not and I repeat do not test dotnet framework.
What distinguishes framework from core is that it's closed source and incompatible with everything that is not windows.

I think this is an interesting take to the handheld space.
Arm linux for gaming.
Arm is basically the same sacrifice Valve made with Linux(compatibility and preformance) again for much of the same benefits(price decrease, battery life, openness, etc.)

It's a good job they say that Linux is supported, because the specs page for the RP5 says it ships with Android 10 pre-installed! I think shipping an OS that is 5 major versions out of date would make you think twice about purchasing it and would certainly encourage you to wipe it and install Linux...
