Another week, another little mini games festival on Steam! This time it's the Turn-Based RPG Fest for you to perhaps find your next favourite.
You know the drill I'm sure by now. It's a genre-focused event to give you discounts, demos and more info on upcoming games. A chance for developers to perhaps cut through the noise a little, which is difficult at times with so many thousands releasing a year.

These are some pretty good deals. Is it worth buying the basic version of XCOM 2 or should I get the version with all DLCs?

Well i only played the base game after i played xcom 1. It was quite weird compared to 1 but for 7 EUR with all DLCs it's definitely a good deal.

These are some pretty good deals. Is it worth buying the basic version of XCOM 2 or should I get the version with all DLCs?I’ve been sticking to the base game because I’ve heard the expansions make it more buggy and I feel like the extras would make it overwhelming (there’s already a lot going on in my opinion), but if you want to use Workshop content, a lot of the most popular mods require War of the Chosen. I think it would be a sound strategy to buy just the base game for your first playthrough(s), and wait for another sale if you want to add on to it later.

I did really enjoy the Shadowrun games on the Deck, so I'd recommend picking those up to anyone that's interested. The individual games are in the sale but the trilogy bundle hasn't had that discount applied and so works out more expensive than getting the games separately.

X-COM 2 at this price, that's a steal. At that price, just watching the introduction is worth the pennies spent!

I did really enjoy the Shadowrun games on the Deck, so I'd recommend picking those up to anyone that's interested. The individual games are in the sale but the trilogy bundle hasn't had that discount applied and so works out more expensive than getting the games separately.Oh, I should give them a try then. I've gotten two of them in a bundle I think, but I've never looked into them let alone on the Deck.

I don't generally go for RPGs, but those ones grabbed me. In part, I suspect, because I could just do a bit as and when on the sofa rather than having it be a big time commitment. I realised partway through the second game that the character I'd created was basically Xena.

Yeah... Strong, charismatic, good with weapons and first aid but otherwise not too bright. Just how it turned out. Shadowrun Hong Kong has a couple borked areas. This one battle on a rooftop locks up my Steam Deck completely and I have to force a restart. It only does this after the battle is over and you go to exit the level at the elevator, but there is no save after the fight so you must redo it every time. I gave up after a half dozen retries.

This is one of my favorite genres, so I'm super pumped about this!! That said, I wouldn't really include any 4x games in these listings, as valve has done, but I guess they think "oh it has turns" so it belongs.

- Zoria (unique aspect of base building)
- Rogue Trader
- Pathfinder series (ultra mega complex systems though)
- Sea of Stars (only the first half, then just stop)
- Wildermyth (so unique and cool!)
- Mechanicus
- Chained Echoes (perfect for Deck)
- Colony Ship (great but lack of a map is frustrating)
- Solasta (pretty much the best strict D&D ruleset game)
- Skald (again - very unique and fun!)
