Currently reviewing well from users on Steam is Nordhold: Origins, a free tower defense game with high replayability where you build up a medieval Nordic village. It's actually just a demo for the upcoming Nordhold, as some developers still seem to prefer making a free prologue rather than a demo, but maybe that will changes with recent updates to Steam demos.

I thought "prologues" were no longer allowed on Steam, as well as advertising other games in the description?

At no point have Valve said they're not allowed. But with the demo system updates, they now make less sense.

Ok, so maybe prologues and other demos-pretending-not-to-be-demos are not explicitly forbidden, but: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/steamworks/announcements/detail/4201376568915048836 "No images, links, or widgets pointing to other games on Steam - This means that you cannot use your store page description to advertise other products on Steam." - and yet this game (and virtually all other "prologues") does exactly that. Shouldn't be for long, though, as "Starting early September, we'll roll out an update that automatically hides any instances where a URL is included in a game's written description or other text section.". At the same time, Proper demo pages will prominently display infobox linking to the full game, so maybe that will do it.
