Relic Entertainment / SEGA have announced that all players that have Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II have been given a free upgrade to the new Anniversary Edition.

From the announcements:

The fan-favourite and legendary release of Dawn of War and Dawn of War 2, originally developed by Relic Entertainment in 2004 and 2009 respectively, have just turned 20 and 15 years years old! To celebrate, we’ve put together two Anniversary Editions, collecting the original game with all its DLC and expansions, as well as a host of fun extras for fans. To celebrate 20 and 15 years of these seminal titles, the Anniversary Editions will be a free upgrade for all existing owners of Dawn of War 1, and Dawn of War 2!

So players who have Dawn of War will now get:

  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Winter Assault
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade

Players who have Dawn of War II will now get:

  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Retribution
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Chaos Rising
  • All additional DLCs such as exclusive multiplayer army skins, and campaign and Last Stand wargear previously only available as DLC packs.

This is really nice to see. Currently this change only seems to be live for the Steam versions.

Dawn of War II does have an old Native Linux version from Feral Interactive. Although you may wish to use Valve's Proton due to no cross-platform online play.

What? 20 years? How is it possible? When did that time passed by?

I hope by 'all existing owners' they will not forget that GOG users are also their customers.

It seems like yesterday i send and photo of my boxed Dark Crusade version to Relic support to get a free Steam key for it.

How time flies...

For a moment I wished for Dawn of War III finally being developed after so many years after the awesome DoWII, and than I remembered...

I played both of these for the first time a few years back now and really enjoyed them

Such fantastic games, I wonder what these fun extras are

It's missing the platforms where the update actually happens.

I finished both of them multiple times and I definitely agree there are both great games!

It's shame that the DoW 3 didn't ended up being that good as the previous ones.

So they relabeled the GOY editon to Anniversary edition and doubled the price? Or am I missing something?
