It's truly hard to believe that Alien: Isolation is 10 years old now, and we're going to get a sequel to one of the scariest games ever made.

Alien: Isolation is a special one for me, since Aliens is one of my all-time favourite movies, and this perfectly expanded the universe while treating it with respect. Just…my heart didn't particularly like it. What an exceptional experience it was to play.

The day after its 10th anniversary (today), the official account on X (Twitter) confirmed a sequel is now in early development. To save you clicking into Twitter here's the image-cropped statement they shared:

To our fans around the world:

It's hard to believe that it has been 10 years since we embarked on our journey with the release of ALIEN: ISOLATION™

When we started developing ALIEN: ISOLATION, we had one guiding principle: to create a truly authentic experience that went back to the roots of the ALIEN™ franchise - a new story capturing the atmosphere and terror of the original 1979 movie masterpiece.

It's been nothing short of incredible to witness your passion for the game over the years and see it reach so many players around the world. Your boundless enthusiasm, excitement, screams (!) and steely courage in the face of cinema's greatest killer, have been profoundly rewarding.

Whether you're a nightmare mode veteran or stepping into Amanda Ripley's shoes for that thrilling first attempt (good luck!), we wanted to express our deep gratitude. It was a dream project brought to life by a brilliant team, and the reception you have given it over the years is extraordinary.

On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear.

Today, I'm delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to ALIEN: ISOLATION is in early development.

We look forward to sharing more details with you when we're ready.

Once again, thank you.

Until next time,
Al Hope, Creative Director - ALIEN: ISOLATION

The original had Native Linux support from Feral Interactive, who no longer port games over to Linux, so it's likely you'll need Valve's Proton to play the sequel.

I'm excited to see what they come up with, and already terrified to think how it's going to feel to play through.

Alien: Isolation: The Collection can buy purchased from:

Time for Alien: Social Distancing.

In the original Alien: Isolation there was a small change you could make to one file to ensure that the alien didn't hunt the player. I hope we can do that again

The alien just wanted to be your friend and give you a hug.

It's a special one for me as well, because I won it here at GoL! :-) Played and enjoyed, too! I just didn't play the DLC stories, might be a good time to revisit.

The original was one of the most tense games I have ever played. Great game, just don't play it when you are stressed and need to relax!
I love the original Alien movie, but I could never bring myself to play this game. I don't do well with run-and-hide horror games. It explains why the only survival horror games I've ever finished have been Resident Evil titles.

One of my absolute favorite games is finally getting a sequel and I should be thrilled but I have concerns. All of the original Alien: Isolation team left CA many years ago. Also CA had their Hyena disaster so their execution has not been the best lately to put it mildly. Again with lots of people leaving the company. I sort of wonder who's left besides the Total War-teams?
