Luma Island looks pretty sweet from Feel Free Games, a game that combines together elements of adventuring and building together that you can play solo or with up to 4 people together.
In a post on Steam the developers mentioned "For any up and coming adventurers that were hoping to play Luma Island on the go, we have got you covered! We have spent an enormous amount of effort ensuring that everything runs smoothly on the Steam Deck, allowing you to farm, fish and explore on the move."
Additionally they said they plan to keep improving it after release. Check out the trailer:

Of course since it's being optimized for Steam Deck, this means thanks to Proton it will then also work well on desktop Linux with your favourite distro!

Are the devs being ironic? Enormous amount of work?
But, but... Proton just works, it's easy, eco-sustainable and sexy!1!

It is not clear to me if the amount of effort is due to the relative lack of power of the Steam Deck (so they had to optimize more than usual, ultimately benefiting everyone) or if for some reason they hit specific bottlenecks with Proton.

In addition to performance optimization, I would guess for the category of "enormous effort": poor readability of UI elements or spotty controller support in menus. Or maybe they were using some part of their tech stack in an unorthodox way.
Or maybe they were joking around. 🤷♀️
Either way - I would give them a lot of good faith.
