Coming from Chaosmonger Studio who created ENCODYA, Clunky Hero, Three Minutes To Eight and other games is a new release with Speedollama. Note: key provided by the developer to our Steam Curator.

If you enjoyed games like Metal Slug, Contra and other classic action-platformers, you'll probably love this one quite a lot. It's ridiculous in all the best ways, but still very much on the simple side mechanically overall. Speedollama, as the name suggests, is all about speed. You race through the generated levels to collect items to unlock the exit against the timer, blowing up every single alpaca that's in your way and watching all their pixel bodies explode into tiny pieces.

Making you feel like a speed-runner, although with procedurally generated levels, you get to choose from 3 different characters each with slightly different stats. As you progress through you will also be able to purchase a few character buffs to make it just that little bit more crazy.

The developer said how it "pushes the limits of the run-and-gun genre" and they're not wrong. I had to take a few breaks, just because of the speed of it all to allow my mind to catch up a bit. Run, gun, bounce around chaotically and keep on running some more. Reminded me a fair bit of Broforce, without the environmental destruction, with the sprinkle of comedy too.

Speedollama is just totally absurd. You can't help but smile as you run through it.

It has Native Linux support and works great on Steam Deck too.

Feature Highlight:

  • Procedurally generated levels offering endless replayability.
  • Vibrant, coloured pixel-art graphics with hand-made frame-by-frame animations.
  • Fantasy violence with humorous splatter scenes and gallons of pixelated blood.
  • A variety of weapons and upgrades to enhance gameplay.
  • Extremely fast-paced action for adrenaline-fueled fun.

Speedollama | Release Date: 21st October 2024
