Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania DLC is out now and it's a rather large addition to an already great game. Note: DLC key provided by Future Friends Games, the base game I purchased myself originally.

Taking an already fantastic content-filled game and just giving you a whole lot more of it, what's not to love about Vampire Survivors? Accessible action that you can hop into for a run whenever you want, and now there's a healthy dose of Castlevania too? Yes please.

It probably needs no real introduction right? Vampire Survivors spawned a whole genre with its simple mechanics of building up a crazy character with auto-firing attacks. Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania adds in over 20 new characters, 40 new weapons, over 30 new music tracks and a huge new castle map to battle through. That's only really scratching the surface of this monstrous expansion though.

The themed map is a nice addition to the game and quite different from most of the maps. With a mixture of closed and open areas, with plenty of extras in it to find and unlock. Unlike other maps, it also has dedicated spots to spawn various Castlevania themed bosses so you can take them on when you feel you're powered up enough.

While the map is nice the real weight of the DLC comes down to all the characters and weapons, but it will take you a good while to get through it all. We're talking tens of hours of gameplay here on the normal speed to battle through the bosses, and deal with the challenges to unlock all the new characters.

I won't spoil it, but lets just say that they're massively underselling this DLC thanks to a big secret. There's a lot more to it than what they're telling you. No doubt you'll be able to find what easily somewhere else, but I'm not a fan of ruining a very nice surprise that really was awesome to see. I have no doubt this will bump the game back up the most played lists on Steam and for good reason.

All the usual jank of Vampire Survivors with enemies walking on top of all the walls, while in other sections they all get stuck on them. It's the game you know and love, just more of everything.

Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania DLC is a brilliant addition to the game, and one that is really a no-brainer on recommending you pick up. The price ($3.99 / EUR 3.99 / £2.99) for the content is just absurd, poncle really did some great stuff here.

Vampire Survivors is Steam Deck Verified, and has Native Linux support (although not advertised).

Snagged this DLC today! It will have to wait until I'm tired of the awesome Starcom: Unknown Space, though!

Most of the characters are hidden at the start and you pretty much have to play as everyone if you want them all, lots of work ahead of me, still working towards Richter...
