After the successful crowdfunding for ASYLUM back in 2013, Senscape have been working away on the supernatural horror adventure and the spiritual successor to cult classic Scratches. Now it finally has a release date, so we're going to visit the ASYLUM on March 6th, 2025.

More about it: "ASYLUM is an ambitious and intricate first-person horror adventure casting you into the hallucinatory setting of the Hanwell Mental Institute. Interact with its curious denizens, gather clues, unravel the mystery, and march towards a shocking conclusion."

They even have a fresh trailer to celebrate the release date being announced:

Features:

  • A mind-bending original storyline that we somehow managed to keep secret during 15 years of production.
  • Between 10 and 15 hours of gameplay — and that's without learning all the dark secrets!
  • An atmosphere so engrossing you will almost smell the stench of decrepitude and putrefaction around you.
  • Exciting challenges rewarding your wit and observation.
  • Memorable soundtrack inspired by 80s horror films and quite a bit of John Carpenter.
  • No jump scares! OK, maybe just a frightening handful that will hit you when you least expect them.
  • Diegetic interface and other buzz words.

One of the first kickstarters I ever backed, it's insane to see it finally being released

Pity about Scratches. Something happened between the developer and the publisher so it's no longer for sale. When I wanted to play it a couple of years back the developer more or less just told people to pirate the game...

Hope they have better luck with Asylum!

Wikipedia doesn't provide any background info, but the developer and the publisher are one and the same. Perhaps Agustin had a falling out with Alejandro; wouldn't be the first time game IP was the victim of feuding founders.
