Making it easier to follow along and get notified when it's available, s&box the spiritual successor to Garry's Mod now has a Steam page up.
Unlike Garry's Mod, it's not just going to be a platform for people to make games in, Facepunch plan to let you export games with it like a full game engine too. Using Valve's Source 2, Facepunch say they're working with Valve to properly license it so there will be no licensing fees or royalties for developers to pay. For those who stick to using s&box directly, they will also be working on a monetization platform but details on that are still to be worked out.
Currently in an "open developer preview" it's not yet ready for the masses but Facepunch have been steadily expanding it. You can get access on the official website.
Hopefully it will all work nicely with Valve's Proton to play the games on Linux / Steam Deck. I did try it myself today in a game or two, but performance seemed to be quite atrocious on my pretty powerful desktop so it seems Proton compatibility is not great just yet.
