The ScummVM project is readying up another release, with the developers issuing a call for testing on ScummVM 2.9.0.

If you're just joining us and don't know what ScummVM does? ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic adventure and role-playing games, provided you already have their data files. It replaces the original executable to launch the game, to get them running on modern systems with various enhancements.

In the announcement they noted these newly supported games in particular need testing:

  • Orion Burger.
  • Total Eclipse and Total Eclipse 2.
  • Thimbleweed Park.
  • The Space Bar.
  • Moonbase Commander. (with multiplayer support)
  • Backyard Basketball.
  • Unrest.
  • Rise of the Dragon.
  • Castle Master.
  • Wait for it! Issue 3. Song for a Hare. (Ну, погоди! Выпуск 3. Песня для зайца)
  • Mask Show. (Маски-шоу)
  • Marvellous Mice Adventures: Meeting Sea Rat. (Три маленькие белые мышки. Визит Морской крысы)
  • The Adventures of the Good Soldier Schweik. (Похождения бравого солдата Швейка)
  • Marvellous Mice Adventures: Sea Rat's Birthday. (Три маленькие белые мышки. День рождения морской крысы)

On top of newly supported games being added, they also said "almost half of the current 108 engines have notable changes" so testing various other games will be helpful too.

The actual changelog of what's new and improved is a long as always.

The day someone starts working on Titanic: Adventure Out of Time for SCUMMVM.. I'll be very happy. However I feel like I still have a long wait.
