More anti-preservation from an industry that actively hates the idea. Laws need to be changed to stop this crap, and how long will it be until other companies start taking people's games away like Ubisoft? Nothing will be done anytime soon though, at least not in the US thanks to results of the latest election... Life sucks.
I'm glad I'veowned licensed all the roms since 2020.

I looked if that happens with Steam and it seems to be rare. Most probably what happens is that people who have the collection can keep it and if the emulator no longer works, the ROM:s probably work with some other emulator. If you're worried, just copy the ROM:s somewhere safe.
If you don't have the collection and don't get it on time, you need to wait and see what happens. There's slight chance that games appear in some form again.

They're trying. But alas it is going nowhere:

On the other hand, this is no surprise. I mean, people actively support things like Denuvo, Kernel-level anti-cheats and the removal of games from your library/or preventing you from playing it since you "Don't own it.".
As long as people are accepting of such tactics the industry knows they can keep doing it and that means no video game preservation in the future.

Hopefully they aren't trying the Disney trick of "back into the vault so we can release to the 'next' generation at full price".
