The Harbour Masters community of developers who are behind the PC ports of Ocarina Of Time and Zelda Majoras Mask have revealed a Star Fox 64 Native PC port is coming.

Announced via their Discord, they made it clear there's no time-frame on when it will release as it's still in development. However, they've "gotten the game to a state where we feel comfortable showcasing it for you" and so they pulled in a community streamer to show it off that you can see below:

While you could play it via an emulator already, the Native PC ports do come with a lot of enhancements. Plus they're a building off point for people to do other fun mods with as well. It's also just great for continued game preservation.

Since the two previous projects have Native Linux support, it's likely this will too whenever they put it live on GitHub.

Looking forward to seeing more of this.
I'd love to try modding in some new levels.
The idea of porting Starfox 1 into 64 just sounds nice to me if it's possible.

Quoting: Mountain ManWhy do they bother when they know Nintendo is going to shut them down? 🙄

Not happened to a single decomp so far

Banjo Kazooie should come at some point hopefully since that's 100% decompiled now

Not sure why you disapprove so much over such old games being ported to pc lol

It's not that I disapprove. Rather, we know for a fact that Nintendo will slap this project with a "cease and desist", so those hobbyists are just wasting their time.
Years, decades later, because hobbyists today "wasting" time, people sailing high seas or random ex employee took something home, will be only preserved, archived, existing copies, samples of tech.
Indeed, waste of their time...

In the grand scheme of life, the universe, and everything, yeah, it is.

It certainly baffles me that Nintendo hasn't shut down these projects, when Rockstar/Take Two was able to shut down re3/reVC three years ago.

It would be in rockstars best interest as they were planning to release that awful remaster trilogy. They knew those source ports would over shadow their trilogy re-release.

Similar thing happened with duke nukem forever if I recall, a fan game got shutdown before the release of actual DNF because the fan made game looked so much better.

Maybe nintendo just don't see it in their best interests, it's certainty not as urgent for them as, let's say, one of their modern games getting leaked early, or their current system being emulated.

It's REALLY bizarre to see people like him on a Linux Gaming website and be so against old n64 classics getting open sourced linux ports. It's a good thing.
