Wine 9.21 released as one of the last developments builds, since we are steadily approaching the release of Wine 10.0 for this Windows compatibility layer.

Here's the highlights:

  • More support for network sessions in DirectPlay.
  • Header fixes for C++ compilation.
  • I/O completion fixes.
  • More formats supported in D3DX9.

Taking from the changelog. There's bug fixes noted for the likes of Saints Row 2, Metal Gear Solid V, Timeshift, Call of Duty 2 modding tools, Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends 2010 and others.

We're due Wine 9.22 in another two weeks time, and then two weeks later the first Release Candidate for Wine 10.0 where the feature code freeze begins to focus on bug fixes.

More on what's to come in Wine 10.0 in my previous article.
