Shiro Games developer of Northgard, Wartales and Dune: Spice Wars have announced SpaceCraft, and my space-nerd brain is now very excited. It's a "massively multiplayer interplanetary crafting adventure" according to the press email, whatever that actually means.

Looks like it will have a big mixture of gameplay with free open-world exploration across the stars, along with you being able to explore planets directly on the ground as well. On the planets you can mine for resources, do some crafting, build a base and there's even automation systems as well. The actual spaceships look modular with you building them up from various components, and the economy will be player-driven as well.

Overall it seems like a bit of a blend of Eve Online, Satisfactory and Avorion. Which could be awesome, although likely a huge timesink. Have a looksie at the trailer below:

“We wanted to give players a spectacular open-ended world to explore, where their decisions have an impact and they have full freedom to choose their own destiny,” said Nicolas Cannasse, CEO of Shiro Games. “Build complex starships and bases, conduct trade deals in a real-time economy, and form alliances and rivalries at your discretion. From the time you start the game, SpaceCraft is your story to tell.”

Hopefully it will work well on Linux with Proton with no anti-cheat annoyances. Right to the top of my wishlist it goes.

I'm gonna have to keep an eye on this one as it potentially ticks a lot of my boxes...

Shiro games have been cranking out great releases in recent years. Hope they can pull this one off.

Interesting! Sounds like a huge project but Shiro games is no greenhorn studio, I'll be following along to see where this goes.

Not sure it's my kind of game, but I love the journey of the "nut" in their trailer.
