OBS Studio has a brand new stable release available! The awesome free and open source video capture tool OBS Studio 31.0.0 is out now. This release went live on December 7th.

From the release notes the main new features are:

  • Added NVIDIA Blur Filter and Background Blur.
  • Added preview scrollbars and zoom/scale indicator.
  • Added v210 format support for AJA device capture.
  • Added Amazon IVS service integration.
  • Added QSV AV1 Screen Content Coding.
  • Enabled first-party YouTube Chat features.

There's various other improvements and fixes, including some tweak for the Linux client like:

  • Changed display and window capture on Linux to not capture implicitly.
  • Improved screensaver inhibit functions on Linux in Flatpak
  • Disabled the (currently unsupported) built-in Automatic Scene Switcher when using Wayland on Linux.
  • Fixed two crashes with the QSV encoder on Linux.
  • Fixed a crash on Linux when importing a scene collection created on Windows.

The change to display / window capture is a nice one, that will stop it automatically capturing a window without you directly telling it to, something that has been a problem for a long time.

At time of writing that Flathub package has not yet been updated. Hopefully soon since it's been a few days since the release.

Can someone explain where that
Added NVIDIA Blur Filter and Background Blur
Thing is? I can't see it under filters. Im on v31.0.0
does it depend on the camera you are using or do i need some extra packages?

I feel like I'm the only Nobara user that couldnt figure out all the OBS "fixes" they implemented. I went back to the original OBS Studio, added plugins from the discovery store, and it all works better than it did when I was fumbling around on windows. I am glad OBS is adding Linux fixes much more regularly!

That's what I'm waiting on, the cam background changing (virtual would be nice) ability.
I can do it in windows with an extra nvidia package, but that one isn't available for linux. (bad nvidia)

Quoting: BigRob029I am glad OBS is adding Linux fixes much more regularly!

They fixed AMD's AMf finally a few versions ago. Used to have to get a custom patched version for it to show.

No clue as to why it's not useable for streaming though (Not checked this release yet so might be now)
