ScummVM 2.9.0 is out now for expanded retro gaming support

ScummVM v2.9.0 has rolled out as a little holiday treat bringing expanded compatibility with various retro classic for you to play on modern systems.

Don't know what ScummVM does? It's is a program that allows you to run certain classic adventure and role-playing games, provided you already have their data files. It replaces the original executable to launch the game, to get them running on modern systems with various enhancements.

Newly supported games in this release:

  • The Adventures of the Good Soldier Schweik
  • Backyard Basketball
  • Castle Master
  • Marvellous Mice Adventures: Meeting Sea Rat
  • Marvellous Mice Adventures: Sea Rat's Birthday
  • Mask Show
  • Moonbase Commander
  • Orion Burger
  • Rise of the Dragon
  • The Space Bar
  • Thimbleweed Park[^1]
  • Total Eclipse
  • Total Eclipse 2
  • Unrest
  • Wait for it! Issue 3. Song for a Hare

Some other changes in this release include the AGS engine updated to version 3.6.1.30 adding support for some newer games like Stranger in Utopia, The Phantom Fellows, and It Takes Two to Tangle. They also added Keymapper support to "more than 20 engines" allowing you to customize your controls. Plus lots and lots more.
