AMD presented their CES 2025 Keynote today to announce multiple new processors with a few bits of exciting news there.
Starting off with announcing the new Ryzen 9950X3D and 9900X3D, for gamers who really want the best possible performance. AMD expect these to be "on-shelf" sometime in Q1 2025.

Their next-generation RDNA 4 graphics architecture and the AI-powered FSR 4 also got a very brief mention, with a guest from Microsoft where it was announced FSR 4 would be coming to Call of Duty Black ops 6 later this year. That was basically all that was said during the keynote about both RNDA 4 and FSR 4. FSR 4 has a "machine learning-based model in its algorithm".
Also coming soon will be the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070 with no specifications currently being given. It appears that FSR 4 will only be supported on RDNA 4 as AMD say it was "developed for RDNA 4". AMD are only previewing it during CES, so expect eventual proper details on RDNA 4 and FSR 4 later. AMD say RNDA 4 features "powerful AI engines and revamped 3rd generation raytracing accelerators".
After that of course it all went into AI, where AMD claimed "AI is the new electricity" (yes, that was really said) along with various other AI applications. Here they also found the time between gushing about AI AI AI to announce some more AI focused processors too. This includes the Ryzen AI Max and Ryzen AI Max PRO Series (Strix Halo), Ryzen AI 300 and Ryzen AI 300 PRO Series (Strix Point) and finally the Ryzen 200 and Ryzen 200 PRO Series (Krackan Point).

AMD said systems powered by Ryzen Z2 processors are expected to be available starting in Q1 2025. AMD say these are designed to "bring console-class gaming to the palm of customers’ hands" featuring up to 8 Zen 5 CPU cores and RDNA 3.5 architecture-powered graphics .

Anyway, back to the keynote: A huge let down overall.

Now is a good time to strike and with sensible pricing and good power efficiency, they could reproduce what happened on the CPU market 8 years ago...

I mean, I agree wholeheartedly, but it sounds strange coming from a robot.
And agree with @omer. Feels like a huge missed opportunity.
I CANNOT WAIT for this ai bubble to burst
Same. For the sake of the planet if for nothing else. Though I shudder to fear what the next thing they'd come up with is, in addition to more massive layoffs when the bubble bursts.

Shame about the lack of GPU info. I think this gen might finally be a worthy upgrade from my 6800.
Of course, right after I order an expensive custom computer from a boutique builder with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and a 4080 Super. My new build that I won't even receive for another 2 or so weeks is now out of date already. Oh well, at least it will be fully repairable and upgradable in the future to newer stuff, unlike my old computer that died last month, which was a godawful HP Omen that was proprietary garbage that I was given during the pandemic.Your computer is NOT suddenly "out of date" just because something new releases. The 9800x3d is still the best gaming CPU and will last you for years. The dual-CCD 99x3d are likely to be worse just like last-gen for gaming so not a big loss. And 4080 Super is a great card with superior raster and RT performance
I CANNOT WAIT for this ai bubble to burstCount me in too!
At least AMD is making it easy to identify which processors to avoid with their naming structure ...
Since I already own a 7900 XTX, I wasn't going to replace it anytime soon anyway.
On the other hand I'm looking for a chip too run AI on for various things I'm playing with, as even the 7900 has its limits - and power drain. So, super interested in those new chips, hope they don't cost a(nother) fortune.

It's because of these links:

I used to be able to login with Gmail but that was taken away as well.
