Rise of the Ronin from Team NINJA and KOEI TECMO has now been confirmed to be launching on Steam and it's coming soon too. It was originally released on the PlayStation 5 back in March 2024, the Steam release arrives on March 11.

More about it: An open-world RPG set in the Bakumatsu period, where players take on the role of a ronin forging their own destiny. The game features multiple possible endings, allowing players to choose which faction to support—such as the anti-shogunate faction, pro-shogunate faction, or Western forces—which significantly alters the story's outcome.

The PC release will include new features including:

  • 8K resolution support.
  • DirectX 12 Ultimate support.
  • Ultra-wide and super ultra-wide monitor compatibility.
  • 120FPS support.
  • Ray tracing support.
  • 3D audio support.
  • Customizable keyboard and mouse controls.
  • AMD Fidelity FX Super Resolution support.
  • NVIDIA DLSS and Reflex support.
  • UI menu with mouse clickability.
  • Intel XeSS graphics technology support.

What a great time for PC gamers. Consoles are seeing less exclusives. Although the titles still take a while to come onto PC, we're getting a steady flow of them now. And thanks to Valve's Proton, it should hopefully run well on Linux platforms.

Looks cool. Let them release it on GOG too. A bunch of previous PS only games were released there already.

Will probably end up buying it, and most likely leave it unfinished, like I did with Ghost of Tsushima.

It's nice to see more of these exclusives coming to PC. But I think Sony will probably hold the best of the best, such as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Astro Bot, as console exclusives. And even if those titles get PC releases, Sony is probably going to enforce PSN account requirements.

SotN was ported to the Sega Saturn (though Japan-exclusive, but it did have Marie mode, which was neat) and to the xbox whatever, so I don't know how much say Sony would have over Konami if they decide to release SotN on Steam.

The problem with Astro Bot and PC is that I think the Dualsense is essential to playing the game. Sony's ulterior motives aside, good luck trying to convince the PC players that a game can't be played with a mouse and keyboard.
